Keep one location in mind

Memory practice: 2 of 3. Start here or warm up with Remember the Star Pair.

Imagine your first two cards are 1: circle and 2: star. They do not match. On your next turn, you open card 7, which is a star. Which card should you choose next?

You can solve this from the three reveals alone. The optional board below shows all twelve faces from the game’s Layout 2. Position numbers identify places, not matching values. This is a fixed, untimed practice exercise.

Show a small hint

One card in your first turn already showed the symbol on card 7. Think of its location rather than opening an unknown card.

Answer and a second step

Choose card 2. Cards 7 and 2 both show stars. The earlier mismatch gave you a useful location even though it did not find a pair.

You also know that card 1 is a circle. Later, card 10 reveals the other circle, so 10 and 1 make another pair. You do not need to memorise the entire board at once.

The remaining pairs are 3 and 8 (triangles), 4 and 9 (suns), 5 and 12 (moons), and 6 and 11 (diamonds). Each card appears in exactly one pair.

Try the same sequence

Play Memory Pairs: Layout 2. Tap 1, then 2. Tap 7 to start a new pair, then 2 to match the stars. Your first mismatch stays visible until that next turn; there is no flip timer to hurry you.

Reset keeps the same arrangement. The link also reopens Layout 2 on another day, with a fresh board and no saved matches. For more ideas, read Memory Matching Tips. Prefer visible numbers? Try Which Eight Can You Choose? or browse all Daily Puzzles.

Continue to round 3: Remember Two Pair Locations. A different board asks you to keep two earlier reveals separate and use the right one next.
